music for citizens
A few months ago, I listened to Russell Moore in conversation with the musician Jon Guerra. Moore is the Editor-at-Large for Christianity Today. Guerra is a musician with deep roots in the contemporary church. He is a compelling witness. I had not heard of him prior to the interview which you can hear on YouTube at this link: Jon Guerra on the American Gospel
The interview highlighted Guerra’s probing song, titled “Citizens.” Here is a YouTube link to that song that includes the lyrics; Give it a listen.
The Broad-winged Hawk will be among the millions migrating south.
As you read and listen to the music, I will be along the coastal strip of Veracruz, Mexico on a birding expedition. The coastal strip here is like a funnel for millions of birds, and insects during the fall. There is often over 5 million raptors with 25 species coming south through this “funnel.” This is often called the “river of raptors.” The area also includes many endemic birds (those seen nowhere else in the world).
We will then return to San Miguel de Allende where we will be living until the end of December, as I serve as minister-in-residence at the Community Church of San Miguel, an ecumenical English-speaking church.
